Day# No Idea!

Garett and Emma

Half-way through Travis’s haircut

Definitely time for a haircut! I don’t have an “after” picture as he was eager to get in the shower!

Am I the only one that goes to bed these days thinking, “Surely tomorrow there will be better news in our nation?!” Lately it seems like there is bad news at every turn and corner. I’m thankful that I know the end of the story...Jesus Reigns!

We’ve been enjoying our first week of summer break! It was so, so nice to be done with school by June 1st this year, so that was one blessing that came as a result of Coronavirus. We could use some rain here, but the weather has been beautiful. Last night we attended prayer group at our church, and it was so nice to all meet together! There were only about 20 of us, but it was so nice to pray and to study God’s Word together. I am very much looking forward to Sunday when we have the opportunity to again worship together. I know that there will be many people that we will still be missing, but I’m looking forward to fellowship with those who come as well as singing and worshipping together. In the midst of all the darkness in this world, it’s a real comfort to know that God is still at work.

Today I had a staff meeting to discuss a few plans for next fall. It’s not possible to out everything in place as we are waiting for the Maine Department of Education to release its guidelines. I’m certainly  praying that they have more reasonable expectations than what the CDC put out! Yes, next year will look different, and unfortunately there is no way around that. However, I am praying passionately and fervently that school will be able to resume in a somewhat “normal” fashion next fall. I would certainly appreciate your prayers for that as well as for growth in our student body. Yes, it would be a bizarre year to see growth, but that’s why we serve the God of the impossible!

We are gearing up for a Sunday school event for our church kids on Saturday. I am so excited to have an opportunity to interact with our Sunday school kids. I’ve missed them so very much! It’ll be a blessing to see them all again.

Tomorrow, our President is coming to Maine! I was thinking about trying to take my children to where he will be, but it’s about a three hour drive from our house, and I heard that the streets will be blocked off early. So we will see. I’d probably be more up for the challenge if I had a bit more direction or if Roger was off of work. We will see.

Yeah, the world’s gone crazy, hasn’t it? Riots, destruction, and sin are running rampant. Governors are shirking from their duties, and people are quick to point fingers at who’s fault it is. Know the real problem? It’s sin. We are sinful creatures, and people seem to not even have a moral conscience anymore. I don’t know how much time I have left on this earth, and I certainly hope that Americans do not lose this battle against socialism and globalism. However, as long as I have breath, I plan to be a Christian, an upstanding American, and to endeavor to raise my children for God’s glory. Yes, I recognize that my children following Christ is their own decision, but that’s not to say that I stand by and do nothing! Stand strong, my friends! Fight against evil and division. God is faithful.

Oh, yes. I almost forgot the Coronavirus update in Maine. Well, in spite of our TRIPLED testing, we still really do not have an emergency, in my opinion. 35 people out of 1.3 million people in Maine are in the hospital! Thousands of people are still out of work. Masks are mandatory. Many businesses are still closed including fitness centers, nail salons, and several other kinds of businesses. It’s really quite disheartening to me, but guess what?! No one asked my opinion!

The Maine CDC reported 0 additional deaths of people who tested positive for COVID-19, meaning the state death total remains at 95.
Of the 2,446 COVID-19 cases in Maine, 2,181 are confirmed by test and 265 are probable (meaning someone who has not tested positive but has been in close contact with someone who has).
1,739 Mainers have recovered from COVID-19.
291 Mainers have been hospitalized at some point during their COVID-19 illness. 35 Mainers are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19, with 14 being treated in intensive care units and 7 on ventilators.
